One of the most exciting things happened in the past few months, the first official trailer came out for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And by the time Christmas rolls around, it’s going to be in theaters. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I can remember, so there’s no doubt that I’m excited. But it’s not all going to be easy to watch, just like how The Force Awakens had some difficult moments. Most people probably didn’t see Han Solo’s death coming in that movie. And some concerned parents even found out how to spy on texts to make sure their younger children weren’t watching it. There are certainly some moments like this in our first real look into what the next Star Wars film is going to be like. Will it be worth the wait? Yes!
The Last Jedi
Luke and Rey
One of the coolest things we’ll see in The Last Jedi is how Rey trains with Luke Skywalker, who she found at the end of The Force Awakens. Most of the latest trailer features dialogue or scenes of the two characters training. Seeing Luke again is going to be nostalgic, and will be one of the most powerful moments in The Last Jedi.
Kylo Ren and Leia
In The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren killed his father, Han Solo. It seems that Ren will at least have the opportunity to do the same to his mother, Leia. This would bring him permanently to the Dark Side. I’d also assume that the next movie may end in his death, as the other characters will want to avenge both Leia and Han. Some parents may be interested in learning how to spy on texts before letting their younger children watch such a gruesome ending.
Chewbacca and the Penguin
With Han Solo gone, seeing the Millennium Falcon is going to bring up some sad memories. However, in the new trailer, we see Chewbacca flying what can be assumed is the Millennium Falcon. He’s accompanied by a small creature, resembling some sort of penguin, that makes a loud noise.
Snoke and Rey
Some of the most intense scenes from the trailer include an encounter between Snoke (who’s not nearly as big in real life) and Rey. She appears to be suspended in the air by Snoke’s use of the force. There is another scene where Rey says she needs to figure out “her place in all this.” The trailer makes it seem that she was saying the line to Ren. One of my biggest fears about the movie is that Rey will end up going to the Dark Side. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.
